Statement of Shawn Meade

Reader advisory: The document contains racial epithets and expletives. The Star-Ledger has redacted specific addresses and the names of civilians. This statement was taken during an investigation into a dispute between a veteran patrolman, Joseph Kenney, and his sergeant, Alex Glinsky. During a pre-shift muster, Kenney accused Glinsky of failing to help him while he extricated two gravely wounded people from a smoking car that had overturned. It marked the latest of several run-ins between the two. Kenney was later brought up on insubordination charges, which were ultimately dismissed. The incident led Kenney to file a lawsuit against the township. In September 2011, he reached a $250,000 settlement. This statement reflects allegations of racism and other offensive behavior by Glinsky, who pleaded guilty to unrelated administrative charges and retired in February 2011. Glinsky adamantly denies the claims.
